June 7, 2009 - Amanda Admitted She Wasn’t An ABBA Fan Before Mamma Mia
By: Michelle • No Comments / Add your Comment
Mamma Mia star Amanda Seyfried has admitted she wasn’t an Abba fan before landing the lead role in the film.
Amanda, 23, stars in the film adaptation of the hit musical alongside Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Dominic Cooper, who she is now dating.
She said: “I knew Dancing Queen. But then when we started working I realised there were all these songs that I’d heard but never realised were by ABBA.”
Amanda also talked about her musical performance at this year’s Oscars ceremony alongside a host of other stars.
She said: “As I was filming in Toronto, I had one day to rehearse – Dominic had been in LA all week and still didn’t get it by the time show time came around.
“We were so nervous and we had Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron with us, who were rock solid, the perfect students. I almost fell down the steps during the live show – Dominic caught me.
“But hey, I got to hold hands with Hugh Jackman on the Oscars stage, which was pretty ridiculous in itself!”

June 7, 2009 - Seyfried, Redgrave, Garcia Bernal and Nero Write “Letters to Juliet”
By: Michelle • No Comments / Add your Comment
Be still my Shakespearian heart. Yes, I’ve written about ol’ Will a lot lately, and now it’s time for more, although with this round, the Bard is providing the inspiration rather than the story. Variety reports that Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Franco Nero will star in Letters to Juliet, an adaptation of Lise and Ceil Friedman’s book. (Not to be confused with this Juliet-inspired project.)
Riffing on the book, which talks about Verona and the multitude of people who write letters to Juliet in care of the city, the story will follow a couple (Seyfriend and Garcia Bernal) who vacation in Italy and mistakenly get one of these letters. Written by Redgrave’s character, the letter recounts her memories of being romanced during a trip to the country long ago. Inspired, Seyfried heads to Tuscany to find the woman’s lost love (Nero). Man, she likes playing Cupid. Anyone want to make bets about how long it will take for her to star in a film AS Cupid?
The project was adapted by Jose Rivera (Motorcycle Diaries and the upcoming On the Road) and Tim Sullivan, and will be directed by Gary Winick, the man behind Tadpole, 13 Going on 30, Charlotte’s Web, and Bride Wars. I’m not sure what that will mean for this film — fluffy romance, something more gritty, a little bit of both? — but I do like the idea. Production begins in Italy on June 25.

With the very sexy Megan Fox starring in Jennifer’s Body the film has been one of the most popular here at HM.ca central. Now to try and build on that popularity Fox Atomic is teaming up with BOOM studios to release a trade paperback to tie-in with the movie. Below is the small blurb about the book from the official website:
The movie event of the Fall is the comic book event of this Summer! JUNO’s award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody brings you JENNIFER’S BODY starring Megan Fox as a demonically-possessed cheerleader with a taste for killing teenage boys! In this original graphic novel that ties into the movie and expands on its universe, BLACK METAL’s Rick Spears brings you even more hellish Jennifer stories with art by HACK/SLASH’s Tim Seely, KICK DRUM COMIX’ Jim Mahfood, DMZ’s Nikki Cook, and POPGUN’s Ming Doyle.
Jennifer’s Body will be hitting theaters on September 18th and it looks like the book will be in comic shops sometime in August. Check out the early cover art below..
