Girl with the Red Riding Hood – Confirmed!

Big Love” and Jennifer’s Body star Amanda Seyfried confirmed tonight in a red carpet interview with E! at the Oscars that she will indeed be starring in Twilight helmer Catherine Hardwicke’s The Girl With the Red Riding Hood for Warner Bros.

The Girl with the Red Riding Hood written by David Johnson (Orphan) is a retelling of the old Red Riding Hood fairy tale, that we can only hope comes sans any sparkling entities and or underwearwolves. Oh, who are we kidding? We know that they will be there. Either way, we’ll be watching and hoping for the best. The original fairy tales by The Brother’s Grimm were deliciously dark so keep your fingers crossed that at least some of that content makes it in.

Amanda Seyfried Dishes On Her ‘Big Love’ Exit: ‘It Doesn’t Mean I Won’t Be Coming Back’

Fans of “Big Love” can breathe a big sigh of relief knowing that Amanda Seyfried (who plays Bill Paxton and Jeanne Tripplehorn’s daughter Sarah on the series) won’t be killed off in what is her last season (unlike a certain male character, who wasn’t as lucky this week). Recently, Sarah married Scott (Aaron Paul), initially to her parent’s disapproval, but now with their blessing. Though Amanda doesn’t spill exactly how Sarah will make her exit, she did confirm in an interview with MTV News that her final episode will be in the eighth episode of the season.

Amanda also divulged that it likely won’t be the last time you’ll see her on the hit HBO drama. “It doesn’t mean I won’t be coming back….. I’ll probably guest star on season five,” she said.

So what was the reason behind her exit? “I’d actually been part of it (the show) for six years and it was a big commitment for not a lot of work. It’s an ensemble cast so not everybody gets to work every day.” Location was also a big part in Amanda’s decision to venture out of the Henrickson household, “It (filming the show) was a six-month commitment in Los Angeles and I wanted to move away to New York.”

Of course, the choice did not come as a shock to the cast and crew, as the “Dear John” star gave fair warning, explaining, “I talked to the writers, I spoke to the producers, the people at HBO, and we all decided that it was OK for me to go.”

With HBO’s blessing and Amanda’s desire to work on other project, the actress isn’t overly sentimental about her departure, saying, “It’s exciting knowing I’m leaving ‘Big Love.’ It’s been a long, long road. My character needed to grow up and, in a way, I kind of just need the freedom to pursue the movie stuff which means a lot. To focus 100% on a movie.”

Amanda, who can currently be seen in the hit film “Dear John,” will next star in the romantic drama “Letters To Juliet.”

Watch the full interview above and let us know, “Big Love” fanatics, how you feel about Amanda bowing out!
